Klaus War

Psychologist, Male BSc (Hons)

I am psychodynamically oriented, which means I help clients to resolve their underlying issues, rather than only treating signs and symptoms. I specialise in crisis intervention, particularly in suicide prevention. I believe most of our problems stem from our early childhood experiences, which have been reinforced several times over the years. While most people can control their maladaptive thoughts and behaviours to some extent, if the underlying issues are still present, they tend to resurface and cause more grief each time, thus making them feel a lot worse than previously. I worked in a Community Mental Health Service for 11 years, and in a private practice for 4 years, assessed and treated all types of mental health issues and mental disorders, which included monitoring psychotropic medication compliance and side effects. I am a fully qualified hypnotherapist, treating all types of anxiety disorders, sleep disturbances, drug addictions, self-esteem issues, chronic pain, and IBS. I have 20 years of experience as a music teacher and taught children from age four to adults, aged 64 years. I also treat children and adolescents for peer relationship issues, school refusal, bullying, and poor school performance. I have 12 years of experience as an Ambulance Officer and have treated Emergency Services personnel for workplace issues, PTSD, and Acute Stress Disorder after attending critical incidents. I am a full member of the Australian Society of Hypnosis and the International
